Analog adapter with 2 FXS port

An Analog Telephone Adapter (ATA) can be used to connect analog phones to a PBX. This article is intended to introduce Cisco PAP2T that connects analog devices (telephones and fax machines) to VoIP services by using two FXS ports.

Cisco PAP2T VoIP phone adapter enables creating a high-quality and feature-rich VoIP service through your Internet connection. Figure 1 shows how to connect devices to Cisco PAP2T. You only need to connect the adapter to your gateway or router by using two standard telephone jacks. This way, you connect your telephone line (a simple phone or a fax machine) to the Internet.

Each phone jacks operate independently, it's like you had two different phone lines. With this solution you will have clear phone lines and seamless fax connections, even when you are using the Internet. With Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) technology, a large scale of special phone features becomes available, not to mention its cost-effectiveness.

You can choose a free local area code, regardless of where you live. You can also add a virtual phone number in any area code, which will be forwarded to your phone. There are further useful features available with this solution, such as: caller ID, call holding, call forwarding, voicemail, and so on.
